This report presents initial results for Canada, Canadian provinces and selected countries from the administration in 2000 of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and the Canadian Youth in Transition Survey. The OECD PISA is a collaborative effort among member countries to regularly assess the achievement of 15-years-olds in three domains - reading literacy, mathematical literacy and scientific literacy - through a common international test. The Youth in Transition Survey (YITS) is a Canadian longitudinal survey designed to examine the patterns of, and influences on, major transitions in young people's lives, particularly with respect to education, training and work.
