This project consists of the development of a numerical model, a field monitoring program, and calibration of the model results against the results of the field monitoring. The project began in 1986 and was expected to end in September 1990 but was extended to March 1991. This report, the fifth of six volumes, is a user's manual for MINE2D, explaining the operation of the MINING and OUTPUT programs. An example analysis is given also. MINE2D is a two-dimensional boundary element program that calculates stresses, strains, displacements and failure zones resulting from the simulation of bulk mining in massive orebodies. The program includes a plasticity formulation to simulate localized failure regions around mined openings, a multiple material formulation to model regions of different materials such as backfill, and a displacement discontinuity formulation to model features such as faults.
