The study sought to (a) provide a detailed assessment of main lake conditions, statistically comparable to the 1971 and 1974baseline data sets, so that "trends" in water quality could bedetermined; (b) identify and characterize any new or emergingproblem areas that may have altered the water quality of thelake; and (c) assess the impact of regulatory controls on wholelake water quality. This report summarizes the findings of theopen lake water quality portion of the 1980 intensivesurveillance program on Lake Huron, the North Channel andGeorgian Bay.
