These brief diary notes, from 15 June-8 September 1942, record the struggle of Hauser (b. 1901, deported from Vienna to Łódź in October 1941) to obtain food for herself and her six-year-old son, the callousness of her husband who keeps the little there is for himself, and the intolerable hunger and exhaustion.
