Extract: This paper examines the factors which contribute to variation in agricultural land values among counties in the Southeast. An important determinant of land values was found to be the nonfarm demand for land. Nonfarm demand contributes more to agricultural land values in highly populated counties than in other counties. Income variables explain a large percent of the estimated agricultural land values in counties that are not highly populated. Population pressures in coastal counties also influence agricultural land values to a greater extent than in inland counties.
