The qualitative interview data described all families reporting typical experiences of reactions to loss such as disbelief, anger, and sadness. Close to half of the families reported an increase in the closeness and communication of the family following the death and many families indicated that the camp experience allowed them to reach out beyond their families and foam relationships with new people who had also experienced similar losses. The majority of the families experienced positive feelings about the camp experience, reporting it to be beneficial. Fewer families reported negative experiences.
