Isaac Julien's nine screen film installation, 'Ten Thousand Waves', is a work that poetically weaves together stories linking China?s ancient past and present, originally inspired by the Morecambe Bay tragedy of 2004 in which 23 Chinese cockle-pickers died. This exhibition at the Victoria Miro Gallery of photographic works associated with the project co-incides withe the UK premiere of the film installation at the Hayward Gallery in London. The catalogue includes a full reproduction of the photographic works in the Ten Thousand Waves series and installation shots from exhibitions of the 9-screen installation at Sydney, Shanghai and Helsinki.
