The SS "Trevessa" under Captain Cecil Foster was shipwrecked in the Indian Ocean on 4 June 1923 between Australia and Mauritius. She had taken on a cargo of zinc concentrates at Port Pirie. These 2 logs recount the fate of the 2 boatloads of survivors. Captain Foster's log, which is longer, covers the days from June 4 to June 26, when his boat sighted land (Rodriguez Island). Chief Officer Smith's log covers June 4 to June 15 and is briefly fleshed out by further notes written for Lloyd's, up to the time his boat reached land at Souillac, southern Mauritius. 33 men survived; the other 11 of the crew of 44 died.
