Chiefly photocopies of correspondence and documents in private possession, the collection contains only a small amount of original materials. These include letters to Fong Chow You from family and friends, 1913-1920, and from his father and brother in 1909, 1913, and undated. Of particular interest are two letters, 1920, from Jow Moke, who writes about working near Ripon, Calif., first in a cannery, then at Moreno Vineyard. Also includes receipts, 1886-1909, goods from companies in San Francisco and Sacramento, a full-page letter from Sanborn & Co., San Francisco, suppliers of soft drinks, syrups, and bitters, soliciting orders from the store, and a record of Fong Chow You's contributions to Chang Hou Tang for rebuilding in San Francisco, 1906.
