How and why does a retired couple leave pastoring in the USA and become full time in missions work overseas? Our names are Don and Judith Eastham. We pastored for almost 35 years in the city of Corvallis, Oregon.God had been dealing with us for a few years about doing missions work. We visited Uganda in February of 2010 and enjoyed it. Before the General Conference in 2012, we felt definite that God was giving us a change of direction. When we walked into the Global Missions display area, we told some of our friends. Immediately, Missionary to Kenya, Jim Crumpacker, asked if Don would come the following September to teach at the Ministerial Center of Kenya in Nairobi. He agreed. I joined him for only three weeks as I was still working full time in my nursing job. This led to Don going several times to both Kenya and Uganda and staying for 6-12 weeks. I continued working, joining him for a couple of weeks of my vacation time. He resigned the pastorate in Corvallis in the spring of 2014.By the summer of 2015 we both became full time as Associate in Missions Missionaries. It is 2020 and we are still at it.

This is a historical novel of the experiences of a child with strong country roots who becomes victim to the Pandemic of Polio in 1946. Put into the hospital, he copes emotionally with a strong belief in God and much humor. Woven into the story are many Christian attitudes and principles such as honoring one's Father and Mother. After 65 days the Doctors give up after exhausted all known treatment for Polio including treatment in the Iron Lung. They pronounce, in front of the child, he will die in two weeks. The Parents decide to take the child home. The Doctors require them to sign papers, that they will not sue when the child dies. God heals the child. The book's title is taken from a country expression which means a thing, such as life, or a person is rough or unconventional. This story is based 90% on actual experiences. I have been an ordained minister since1974. With my wife of 62 years, I have served the Lord in New York, Texas, Maryland, and Missouri. I have served in many capacities, in mostly small churches. I had many secular jobs to supply family support. This has given me experience with the common citizen. My favorite ministry was to write and direct dramas and skits using the local congregation. I have been blessed to experience several Miracles over the years. This book is based on my first. Several of my children and grandchildren have gone into ministry.
