This is the rare paperback edition of journalist Linda Hunt's classic "Secret Agenda: The United States Government, Nazi Scientists, and Project Paperclip," a controversial book that faced opposition from the halls of power. Although Project Paperclip documentaries consistently fill cable TV slots today, the subject was still taboo in the 1990s. Despite such pre-internet suppression, luckily, today's reader can still enjoy the benefits of the intricate research herein. From the book jacket:The subject of this book is hauntingly familiar: a group of men in the Pentagon decide that they alone know what is the best for the country. Project Paperclip - their effort to bring German scientists, including known Nazis, to the U.S. after WWII - ran roughshod over official American policy; its details and deceits were then covered up for decades - until now.Even before the war in Europe was over, U.S. intelligence agents were scouring Germany in search of the Reich's top scientists - to gain the "spoils of war" and keep them out of the hands of the Soviets. It did not matter that many of these scientists had been members of the Nazi party, or been accused or even convicted at Nuremberg, or that President Truman had issued a presidential directive forbidding the immigration of ardent Nazis. The men who ran Paperclip simply cleansed the scientists' records and installed them in high-level military and industrial positions. "Secret Agenda" for the first time exposes the full story of Project Paperclip, from its earliest deceptions in the 1940s and 1950s to the work of Arthur Rudolph and Wernher von Braun on the Apollo program.Thoroughly researched and fact-checked, "Secret Agenda" is an important and disturbing book about one of the darkest chapters in American history. Linda Hunt is a Washington-based reporter whose Paperclip stories received international attention and won the Investigative Reporters and Editors Award in 1985. She is formerly executive producer of CNN's investigative unit.

"Candy Jones" was the stage name of Jessica Wilcox (b. 1921) who became famous as a model and "pinup girl" in the early 1940s. Her story seems too bizarre to be true. One of America's most famous models, brainwashed by the CIA? Yes, it is another example of truth being stranger than fiction. The story begins with Candy's wedding to Long John Nebel, New York's most successful radio talk-show host. During the wedding, and regularly thereafter, Candy's personality would seem to shift. She would suddenly change from her affable, self-effacing self to a brusque, aggressive "stranger." For the first few months of the marriage, these shifts were infrequent enough that Nebel didn't worry much about it, but as time went on, they got worse. Nebel began trying to relax his wife by hypnotizing her. Although Candy insisted that she couldn't be hypnotized, she slipped easily into a relaxed state, and then into a healthy, deep sleep. But during the third session, with no suggestion from Nebel, Candy spontaneously regressed to a young age. After that, Nebel began to record their sessions. The result of these sessions was that Nebel discovered his wife had been brainwashed into have a second identity, "Arlene," whom a CIA doctor had used to carry messages all over the world. Eventually, Candy was tortured at CIA headquarters, so that her doctor could display her "successful" programming. "The Control of Candy Jones" sent shockwaves through the corridors of power when it was first published in 1976. After reportedly being suppressed by the CIA, it became an instant classic, and remains so today.

In their prolonged study of Created Phenomena, the Masters discovered what they came to call the Sacred Four Elements, as they found that these elements enter into the constitution of everything known. They saw for thousands of years that (1) Soil, (2) Solar Heat, (3) Air and (4) Water are the elements that produce every formation, every object, and every organism. Professor Hilton Hotema
The Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center of Water town, Massachusetts in cooperation with the Materials Science Group of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science of Syracuse University has conducted the Sagamore Army Materials Research Conference since 1954. The main purpose of these conferences has been to gather together over 150 scientists and engineers from academic institutions, industry and government who are uniquely qualified to explore in depth a subject of importance to the Department of Defense, the Army and the scientific community. This volume NONDESTRUCTIVE EVALUATION OF MATERIALS, addresses the areas of x-ray, ultrasonics and other methods of nondestructive testing. We wish to acknowledge the dedicated assistance of Joseph M. Bernier of the Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center and Helen Brown DeMascio of Syracuse University throughout the stages of the conference planning and finally the publication of this book.
