Prince Cinos is feared and reviled as the most treacherous mind in the land of Orillia. He bends the law to his will and twists people into webs of his control, but when the tide of magic swells, one girl will gain the power to end his reign forever. Gloria, raised in isolation, barely escapes a fire that destroys her home and is thrust into a world where villains and heroes share the same face, and monsters wear the skins of the pure-hearted. Suspected to be a witch on the wrong side of a civil war, Gloria is captured and brought before the prince. As a battle for the source of magic engulfs the kingdom, Cinos must choose where his true loyalties lie.

  • Book cover of Myanmar Food Atlas: A user guide to aid food portion size estimation

The Myanmar food atlas is a series of photos displaying a variety of foods in standard serving sizes. The photos represent a range of foods customarily consumed by Myanmar people. The food atlas serves as a visual aid with food items in specific quantities or servings for exchange that is useful for meal planning and for fulfilling energy and nutrient requirements as well as special dietary needs of the individuals.

  • Book cover of Science for Hairdressing Students

Science for Hairdressing Students, Third Edition, has been revised in order to conform to recent examination demands and the more integrated approach to teaching applied science to hairdressing students. It is organized in such a manner as to make it a self-teaching text. All the information is broken up into small study topics with a glossary-index to guide readers. At the end of the book is a huge selection of test questions. The book begins with a discussion of the changes that people want when they come to the salon. This is followed by separate chapters on hairdressing techniques such as shampooing, coloring, lightening, waving, setting, and drying. Subsequent chapters discuss scalp and skin treatments; chemicals used in the salon; creating ideal salon atmosphere, temperature, and lighting; and safety and hygiene in the salon. Also discussed are the parts and functions of the human body; personal hygiene for hairdressers; and first aid for emergencies and accidents. This book is suitable for students studying for: City and Guilds of London Institute Craft Course (Basic 760-1), City and Guilds of London Institute Craft Course (Advanced 760-2), Qualifying Examinations of Hairdressing Council, and American State Review Boards (Cosmetology).

Linear equations of motion with the hydrodynamic coefficients approximated by strip method are used to obtain the motion of small-waterplane-area, twin-hull (SWATH) ships in regular and irregular waves. The couplings among different modes of motion are separated into 3 independent groups: surge, heave-pitch and sway-roll-yaw; and the resulting equations of motions are treated in the frequency domain. The hydrodynamic coefficients of predominantly nonviscous nature, added mass and wavemaking damping, are obtained by strip theory. The effects of wave diffraction, viscous damping, and stationary stabilizing fins are included in the equations of motion within the framework of the linear frequency response of a body to waves. The assumptions involved in the evaluation of various hydrodynamic coefficients in the equation of motion are specified. The validity of the theoretical prediction of motion is checked by correlating with existing model experimental results, and the relevant discussions are made. In general, the theoretical prediction is satisfactory except the case of near zero-encounter frequency which can occur when a ship cruises with certain speed in stern-quartering waves.
