"The exhibition 'The Fact of Matter' marks the beginning of a new chapter in the choreographic oeuvre of William Forsythe (b. New York City, 1949) and takes a programmatic look at the threshold between the visual arts and choreography. Over the past decades, the internationally renowned artist has created an unequalled dance cosmos: Forsythe has developed ground-breaking ballet choreographies, experimental dance pieces, digital dance scores and site-specific installations that unexpectedly turn the viewers into protagonists themselves. He is considered an innovator within the practice of ballet and has influenced generations of dancers to a degree matched by virtually no other artist in the field. The oeuvre of William Forsythe has been associated with the city of Frankfurt am Main for thirty years. It was here that he founded the Ballett Frankfurt in 1984 and The Forsythe Company in 2004. He has received numerous internationally well-known awards andin 2010 was honoured with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale. The exhibition features large-scale installations, including several site-specific works developed especially for this occasion. Atypical characteristic of these works is the organization of movement. The visitors can move freely through their performative exhibition and thus become part of a choreographic arrangement. William Forsythe's choreographic objects grant them access to novel situations, where they themselves become players through interaction with the installations. In this exhibition, Forsythe's performative and space-related choreographic objects enter into dialogue with the museum architecture by Hans Hollein, but also masterpieces from the MMK collection. The latter were selected in close collaboration with William Forsythe according to content-related correspondences as well as formal analogies. Line, movement, sound, compositional structures and aspects of performance in space play a key role in all of these works. William Forsythe has chosen more than 40 works from the collection. A selection has been compiled in this exhibition guide"--Artist's website.

"A remarkable book,in which Forsythe uses his thorough knowledge of the ancient evidence to reconstruct a coherent and eminently plausible picture which in turn illuminates early Roman society more immediately than any other category of evidence is able to do. Forsythe displays his impressive ability to demonstrate to what extent and why the tradition that dominates the extant historical narratives is not credible."—Kurt Raaflaub, author of The Discovery of Freedom in Ancient Greece "An excellent synthetic treatment of early Roman history found in both modern literary and archaeological materials."—Richard Mitchell, author of Patricians and Plebeians

"The Pure Language of Love" consists of more than just the typical everyday love poems. Erick's style of writing will grab you by the very seams of your soul and bring you to a level of emotional expression you did not know to exist. Some of his poems are casual and smooth flowing; while others are lyrical roller coasters that leave you wondering how he was able to peer so deeply into your soul and bring out the secrets locked within. Captured within the pages of this book are poems based on the highest levels of love as well as the darkest days of despair which follow losing that same love. There are poems involving family life and the relationships built therein. He also discusses his religious views in poems such as 'We Are Witnesses'. He concludes this literary work with poems based on random events and situations throughout his life. Anyone who appreciates truly heartfelt poetry will want to take them time to examine "The Pure Language of Love".
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A NEW YORK TIMES NOTABLE BOOK OF THE YEAR • ONE OF THE WASHINGTON POST's 50 NOTABLE WORKS OF NONFICTION An explosive, deeply reported exposé of McKinsey & Company, the international consulting firm that advises corporations and governments, that highlights the often drastic impact of its work on employees and citizens around the world McKinsey & Company is the most prestigious consulting company in the world, earning billions of dollars in fees from major corporations and governments who turn to it to maximize their profits and enhance efficiency. In When McKinsey Comes to Town, two prizewinning investigative journalists have written a portrait of the company sharply at odds with its public image. Often McKinsey's advice boils down to major cost-cutting, including layoffs and maintenance reductions, to drive up short-term profits, thereby boosting a company's stock price and the wealth of its executives who hire it, at the expense of workers and safety measures. McKinsey collects millions of dollars advising government agencies that also regulate McKinsey's corporate clients. Shielded by NDAs, McKinsey has escaped public scrutiny despite its role in advising tobacco and vaping companies, purveyors of opioids, repressive governments, and oil companies. McKinsey helped insurance companies' boost their profits by making it incredibly difficult for accident victims to get payments; worked its U.S. government contacts to let Wall Street firms evade scrutiny. And much more. When McKinsey Comes to Town is a landmark work of investigative reporting that amounts to a devastating portrait of a firm whose work has often made the world more unequal, more corrupt, and more dangerous.

The new edition of Fifty Key Thinkers in Psychology introduces the life, thought, work and impact of some of the most influential figures who have shaped and developed modern psychology, considering a more diverse history of the discipline. The revised text includes new biographies, histories, and overviews of the work from scientists and scholars such as Alfred Alder, Isabel Briggs Myers, Katherine Cook Briggs and Karen Horney, as well as major re-writes of the works of Freud, Binet and Jung, and some of the more controversial characters such as Charles Galton and Hans Eysenck. Exploring the often overlooked but significant contributions of black, Jewish, and Eastern scholars to the discipline, this new edition looks to address the historically imbalanced focus of particular key thinkers and begin unpicking the impact that race and gender had on the direction and advancement of the field. The book covers the black psychology movement from George Herman Candy to Mamie Phipps Clark, and Kenneth Bancroft Clark, the enormous contribution of Chinese psychologist Jing Qicheng, and some of the many great psychologists whose families were part of the waves of Jewish emigration to the United States escaping oppression, persecution and economic hardship, including Walter Mischel, Cary Cooper and Daniel Kahneman. This fascinating and informative guide is an invaluable resource for those studying, working in, or who simply want to find out more about psychology, suitable for both students and the lay reader alike.
