Stevens claimed that the package contained only a pair of boots, velvet ribbon, and a belt for herself and therefore should not be considered contraband; Stevens had also been in communication with "Gen'l Huger" and "Mrs. Huger" regarding this affair, in hopes that her package might be sent to Norfolk. The letter also makes reference to Wool's acquaintance with Stevens' father.
