Handwritten autobiography of Captain Arthur Devlin, from his childhood in Sydney, to his travels as a captain of various ships. One particular incident was the wreck of the 'Rapid' in 1840. The initial line is addressed to 'The editor of the Argus' and the introductory note has the date of July 19th 1893. Also a letter of request for a passport for Arthur and his wife, April 17th 1860, from the Union Bank, London. Transcripts done by Mrs J.A. Stuart, March 1953.
