Adelbert von Chamissos Werk vereint eine sich aus seinen Lebensumständen ergebende Vielzahl von gegensätzlichen Lebensentwürfen, Weltanschauungen und Schreibformen und eine oftmals irritierende Fülle unterschiedlicher Lebens- und Schreibwelten. Wild und umherschweifend ist Chamisso lange Zeit in seiner gedanklichen Orientierung gewesen: zunächst idealistisch-romantisch, dann wieder skeptisch aufgeklärt, ein romantischer Dichter und ein empirischer Naturforscher, der nach seinem Erfolg als Prosaautor wieder zur Lyrik zurückkehrte, einen Musenalmanach organisierte und plötzlich als kritischer Vormärzdichter hervortrat – nicht einzuordnen, nicht auszurechnen, immer anders als zuvor.

Sowohl in der populären Wahrnehmung als auch in der Forschung wird Henriette Herz vor allem als »Berliner Salonière« und »Schöne Jüdin« wahrgenommen. Die Beiträge dieses Bandes eröffnen neue und differenzierte Perspektiven auf ihr Leben und Werk. Anliegen des Bandes ist, die Kommunikations-, Wissens- und Handlungsräume, in denen sich Henriette Herz bewegte und die sie zugleich selbst schuf bzw. mit prägte, unter interdisziplinären Fragestellungen zu untersuchen. Das Bild von Henriette Herz als Symbolfigur der Berliner Kultur- und Geistesgeschichte wird so um wesentliche Aspekte erweitert und es werden weitere wichtige Zugänge zur sonst gut erforschten Literaturgeschichte um 1800 und zu deren Rezeption eröffnet. By asking interdisciplinary questions, this volume investigates the dimensions of communication, knowledge and action within which Henriette Herz moved, and which she herself created or shaped. The image of Henriette Herz as a symbolic figure of Berlin's cultural and intellectual history is thus broadened by key aspects, whilst further significant insights into an otherwise well-researched literary history ca. 1800 and its reception are revealed.

L’individuel est une notion qui place la philosophie devant un défi multiforme. Comment la pensée et la connaissance prétendent-elles appréhender ce qui se présente volontiers à la fois comme le grain et le critère de la réalité ? Et a-t-on seulement raison de le considérer comme tel : n’est-il pas plutôt un caractère dérivé du réel, dont la nature fondamentale serait pré-individuelle ? Cette difficulté est, à bien des égards, celle de la raison clinique – non pas en un sens exclusivement médical (ni thérapeutique), mais au sens large d’un face-à-face avec le « ceci », et d’une prétention à sa connaissance minutieuse. Logique, épistémologie et métaphysique sont ici mobilisées, selon des approches à la fois distinctes et combinées, afin d’explorer, de façon méthodique et diversifiée, un problème commun.

Ce travail éclaire la genèse et la réception de la pensée esthétique de K. W. F. Solger (1780-1819) entre 1800 et 1830 à partir de ses manuscrits et de leurs premières éditions posthumes. Sont d'abord présentées les sources dont nous disposons ainsi que les rapports entre ces différents textes et les concepts forts de la pensée esthétique de Solger. Une analyse historique permet ensuite de dégager les grandes lignes de sa biographie intellectuelle, et plus spécifiquement son rôle au sein de l'Université de Berlin entre 1811 et 1819. Un travail sur les différents états de textes montre pour finir les enjeux littéraires d'une œuvre laissée inachevée par son auteur et largement remaniée par ses éditeurs posthumes. L'ensemble de cette recherche s'appuie plus particulièrement sur la correspondance de Solger, et s'attache à retracer les relations de l'un des protagonistes du Berlin romantique et idéaliste avec ses contemporains.
