A retired Professional Engineer and WW II vet, the author has been active in Church life serving as Church School Superintendent and active in the mission program of the denomination. He has served as a Lay Delegate to various synods and is active in ecumenical affairs such as the Pennsylvania Council of Churches. As a youth he attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was awarded The Order of the Arrow (by ordeal). He served as Scoutmaster for troops in Drexel Hill and Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Ao criar um Fórum de Ciências Bíblicas, a Sociedade Bíblica do Brasil tinha alguns objetivos. Primeiro, foi criar um espaço para a pesquisa, o debate, o relatório da frente de tradução bíblica. Em segundo lugar, a intenção era abrir um espaço de diálogo entre a academia e as entidades que se empenham na complexa tarefa de tradução do texto bíblico. Em terceiro lugar, a intenção era socializar um pouco desse conhecimento, tornando-o público. “A tradução da Bíblia para a língua portuguesa” foi o tema central da II edição do Fórum de Ciências Bíblicas, realizado pela Sociedade Bíblica do Brasil. A intenção do Fórum era chamar a atenção para a questão da tradução para o português, bem como ampliar a discussão para o desafio da tradução para as línguas indígenas no Brasil e para a questão da tradução da Bíblia no mundo contemporâneo.
