The purposes of this paper are (1) to continue from Dobos et al. (1988) and provide an update on the status of colonial waterbird breeding populations at Hamilton Harbour (1988-1994), (2) to describe how human changes to the landscape, together with natural succession and interspecific competition have affected nest distributions in the Harbour, (3) to report the results of conservation efforts for Common and Caspian Terns and of control efforts for Ring-billed Gulls, and (4) to provide a framework for making effective decisions regarding the future of colonial waterbirds nesting at Hamilton Harbour.

It has been five years since Dr. Joseph Gatch has used his expertise as a renown Forensic Scientist to solve a case in the town of Coveralls, NM. During this time of absence, Dr. Gatch has devoted his time helping his wife Maggie at running the Red Mountain Ranch and trying to break his "G___ D___ Flea Brained Mustang". However, a body hanging from a cross in the cornfield behind the high school football field changed all that. The new Chief of Police of Coveralls, Samuel Spade, calls on Dr. Gatch to come help in the solving this mystery. This results in Dr, Gatch teaming up with Chief Spade and a couple old friends, Oilcan and Crabtree, as they+ wade through the many twists and turns of case of The Scarecrow. The thermal decomposition of unirradiated mercuric oxalate and the effects of pre-irradiation by X-rays, ?-rays, and sunlight were examined. Pre-irradiation accelerated the subsequent decomposition in all cases. Considerable radiolysis occurred when using ?-rays, but there was no detectable loss in weight when using sunlight or X-rays. The effects of ?-rays and light on the thermal decomposition were similar in that an initial burst of gas preceded the main acceleratory and decay periods. The initial reaction was studied in detail in each case and activation energies determined.
