In the EU registration procedure, the assessment of the leaching to groundwater and the exposure of soil organisms as a result of the use of plant protection products is based on the use the FOCUS groundwater scenarios and the EFSA soil exposure scenarios, respectively. This user manual describes the use of the graphical user interface of the new FOCUSPEARL version, i.e. version 5.5.5, that facilitates the application of the scenarios for these assessments. In addition a description of the input and output files is given which helps the user to use the FOCUSPEARL model without the interface.

In the Dutch Decision Tree for the evaluation of the leaching potential of pesticides, the GeoPEARL model isused to calculate the 90th spatial percentile of the median leaching concentration in time at a depth of 1.0 m.This report describes the design and contents of the database as well as the exchange of data between the database and interface of GeoPEARL version 4.4.4.

Calculation of evapotranspiration is essential for the estimation of crop water use or for studying the effect of drought stress on crop performance with simulation models. Several methods are available for calculation of evapotranspiration. This report describes three different methods : the Penman method (1948) and the approaches of Makkink (1957) and Priestley -Taylor (1972). The modules described in this report are developed for use in general crop growth models for water-limited conditions, such as in Van Laar et al. (1992). The application of the modules, however, is not limited to the SUCROS type models.

The aim of the Groundwater Atlas for pesticides is to improve access to the groundwater monitoring results for use in the registration. The user manual for the Groundwater Atlas version 2022 describes how the measurement results for a selected substance can be explored. The user can generate a report for registration with a summary of the measurement results and the land use within the area of influence of sampling points. There are no fixed values for the period and depth to evaluate the presence of each substance in the groundwater. The user has the option to choose these values himself.
