The Quotable is the quarterly publication of quotable writers. Each issue focuses on a theme and a quote. The theme for our Winter 2013 issue is "Storytelling." The issue features excellent short fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry and by emerging artists.

"My evolution as a poet began with a fraying black book and an old Victorian mansion. As a child, my mother took me to the public library, i.e. Victorian style mansion, where I engaged in the act of reading. I would travel the creaky stairs, through each nook and cranny, and collect stacks of books to bring home. It has since turned into a lawyer's office, something that, in my opinion, is not as fitting for the architecture. The first poetry book I read was from the early 1900s. It had that old book smell, golden pages, a tattered black binding, and cheesy life metaphors with which I fell in love. A student in Joy Katz' poetry workshop recently stated that the natural world influences a child's imagination. Not only did growing up around corn fields and hillsides foster my creativity, but I believe that the little black book and the intricately designed Victorian library did as well. My poetry often finds itself in the natural world, explores family dynamics and illustrates the dark, elusive relationship between both. ... -- from Introduction.
