  • Book cover of The Family as the Primary Instance of Socialization

     · 2022

Seminar paper from the year 2014 in the subject Sociology - Basics and General, grade: 1,3, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, language: English, abstract: The family life form - as can be observed again and again in the media, but also in the closer or more distant social environment - currently no longer necessarily consists of a natural father, a natural mother and a child or several children. This traditional form of family is nowadays partly replaced by other family forms. As a result, some children grow up with only one parent due to divorce and separation, for example, or are confronted with a new (marriage) partner of the mother or a new (marriage) partner of the father and possibly also with new siblings in their cohabitation. Single-parent families as well as step- and patchwork families have not been uncommon in our society for several years. All in all, since the mid-1960s, there has been a change in the family, which - to put it bluntly - has led to a crisis of the normal family. This is reflected in particular in a pluralization of family forms of life. But how does the change of the family affect the smallest members of our society and what effects does it have on the socialization process of children? And what new socialization problems arise as a result? Facing this question is so important because the family is the primary instance of socialization for children.

  • Book cover of Furnishing | Zoning

What is the process of forming rooms, which elements are used and how are room-shaping components defined? The fourth volume in the SCALE series, Furnishing | Zoning, deals with the relationships between building typology and building structure, and between spatial composition and interior design. The relationship between the briefing and the catalogue of requirements, and between shell construction and fit-out, is elucidated. Connections at walls, ceilings and floors are explained in detail and illustrated with case studies of selected projects. In addition, the authors demonstrate how a well-designed sequence of spaces can create added value by means, for example, of the choice of materials and the lighting scheme, or adaptability to accommodate new functions. Following the introductory chapter on the subject of space, the volume is divided into chapters on floors, walls, ceilings, and furniture and fixtures. Furnishing | Zoning examines the subject from different professional angles and thereby provides valuable support for practical interior design.

Seminar paper from the year 2012 in the subject Pedagogy - Orthopaedagogy and Special Education, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, language: English, abstract: Integration and inclusion are (pedagogically) central terms of our time, which are increasingly used in the media these days. Not infrequently, they are equated with each other in everyday use, because one might think that the word inclusion has replaced that of integration. Yet these two terms conceal different demands and goals, which play a very important role in the field of education, including in the area of schools. What integration and inclusion pedagogy have in common is the claim to teach children and young people together, regardless of their individual abilities and disabilities as well as their social, ethical and cultural background. Since 2009, Germany has committed itself to establishing an inclusive education system, thus ensuring joint teaching of children with and without disabilities. However, the question of how this can be implemented arises again and again. If one looks at Montessori education, it becomes clear that there is already a long experience with an inclusive concept. The following work will focus on the inclusion of people with disabilities in the area of school. First of all, I will show why the words integration and inclusion often appear side by side, and how they are related to each other, especially in educational discourse. Then I will define the term inclusion. To do this, it is necessary to distinguish it from inclusion in order to get a clear picture of the points in which the two differ from each other.
