Some readers of the first book, From The Skin Out, wanted a more upbeat ending so I changed the last few chapters and republished it as an alternate ending book. The title is from a quote of one of the main characters: " I was going to separate her as much as I could from her old life so I intended to get rid of all her old clothes, from the skin out." This heartwarming and poignant story is about a young and very intelligent girl who was rescued from the foster care system by a store clerk to become a most fortunate young women. Set in Alaska, Washington state and Oregon it gets into areas such as abuse in foster care, elitism in school athletics programs, drug dealing, Alaska Natives, medical advances, and friendships.
