(1) An account is given of the fauna and its zonation on rocky and stony beaches in Ghana. (2) The Fauna is divided into three basic zones, a littorina zone, a balanoid zone and a lithothamnia zone. (3) This basic zonation is discussed in relation to zonations found in other parts of the world.

A list of 74 species not previously recorded from the Gold Coast is presented, together with short notes on their distribution. Several species which have not been recorded south of Senegal are shown to have a more southerly distribution.
