We experience different types of trauma in our lives. However, there is no trauma as debilitating as sexual abuse. During this time of the "Me Too" era, sexual domination, abuse, domestic violence, and misuse have become exposed in staggering waves of revelation. And although these abuses have always been a part of a woman's human experience. Women's voices have never spoken louder or more eloquently regarding their plight. Women of all ethnicities worldwide know of this and wish to rise above, be free, live lives of mutual respect, and be seen autonomously. They cry out to expel the pain and release the toxicity of the abuses forced upon them. Sexual abuse and misuse are very much a part of this culture. It carries a heavy weight and creates a brokenheartedness of unseen grief in their hearts. The crown of guilt, despair, and shame they may experience as a result of the abuses they have endured. The author a survivor discusses her traumatic upbringing and shares with transparency in hopes that other women may experience release from the shackles of abuse and freedom from the shame of it. God offers us this comfort as stated in Jeremiah 29:11 For I "Know the thoughts I think towards you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end."
