With the recent advancements and implementations of technology within the global community, various regions of the world have begun to transform. The idea of smart transportation and mobility is a specific field that has been implemented among countless areas around the world that are focused on intelligent and efficient environments. Despite its strong influence and potential, sustainable mobility still faces multiple demographic and environmental challenges. New perspectives, improvements, and solutions are needed in order to successfully apply efficient and sustainable transportation within populated environments. Implications of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) in Urban and Rural Environments: Emerging Research and Opportunities is a pivotal reference source that provides vital research on recent transportation improvements and the development of mobility systems in populated regions. While highlighting topics such as human-machine interaction, alternative vehicles, and sustainable development, this publication explores competitive solutions for transport efficiency as well as its impact on citizens' quality of life. This book is ideally designed for researchers, environmentalists, civil engineers, architects, policymakers, strategists, academicians, and students seeking current research on mobility advancements in urban and rural areas across the globe.

Wildlife crime has a negative impact on biodiversity across the world. The illegal killing, poisoning, trapping or trade of species is putting the European Union's biodiversity under pressure. In April 2017, the European Commission adopted the "Action Plan for nature, people and the economy" to improve the implementation of the Birds and Habitats Directives and boost their contribution towards reaching the EU's biodiversity targets for 2020. The European Commission developed a Roadmap towards eliminating the illegal killing, trapping and trade of birds. It aims to prevent and tackle wildlife crime in the European Union and therefore ensure compliance with the Birds Directive. The Roadmap also supports the recommendations of the Bern Convention and the implementation of the Convention on Migratory Species by outlining four areas in which the European Commission can support Member States to enforce the law. This new publication shows how LIFE projects have already helped contribute to each of the areas identified in the Roadmap: monitoring and data collection, prevention, information exchange, training and awareness- raising, and enforcement and legal aspects.

The latest LIFE Focus publication is a special edition to mark the 20th anniversary of the LIFE programme in 2012. A joint publication of the LIFE Nature and LIFE Environment units, The Voices of LIFE: 20 years of getting things done focuses on the people who have helped the LIFE programme achieve so much over the last two decades. Featuring interviews with more than 75 individuals from 20 countries, the publication allows people to explain, in their own words, the impact that LIFE co-funding has had on their work, their environment, their communities and their lives. To read the words of these "voices of LIFE"--The programme's founders to its administrators, from governing bodies and public authorities, to citizens of all kinds: farmers to firefighters, schoolchildren to small business owners - is to understand directly the value, impact and inspiration of the LIFE programme. This new publication also features the top three entries in the photo and summary competitions organised as part of LIFE's 20 anniversary celebrations -- EU Bookshop.
