James Shepherd (1730-1814), of Scottish lineage, married twice, and in 1812 emigrated from Ireland to Jefferson County, Ohio with his second wife and one son, John. Others of his children and their mates emigrated later to join them. Descendants lived in Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, California and elsewhere. Includes some ancestry in Ireland and Scotland.
