One of the principal experiment stations maintained by the United States Department of Agriculture is located at Beltsville, Md., about 14 northeast of Washington, D.C. The establishment is designated the Agricultural Research Center and includes facilities for investigational work by eight of the Department's bureaus. The Bureau of Animal Industry occupies 4,200 acres of the center and devotes 177 acres to yards, buildings, and other facilities used for poultry research work.
