The quality of the glue joints in laminated beams can be evaluated by removing round plugs (with their axes perpendicular to the glue lines) from noncritical areas of the beams, such as the end trims, and testing them in shear. A standard block shear tool was modified to facilitate testing glue joints in round plugs, and comparisons of results from such plugs and standard shear blocks are presented. Pros and cons of the test are discussed.
