This large, exhaustive monograph is devoted to the Swiss artist. Using photography, video, painting, drawing, sculpture, sound, and text by turns, Rondinone is a virtuoso of forms and techniques. Developing surprising sensorial environments, he especially likes destabilizing our perceptions and unsettling our certainties. Rearranging content and formal elements through a personal poetic filter while taking directly from the outside world, he draws us into a synesthetic experience. Simon Dybbroe Møller's first monograph folds Modernist art history into something new. His interest stems in part from personal nostalgia and in part from intellectual fascination; he once told an interviewer, "You and I grew up in a society where a certain kind of provincial Modernism has had a major influence on how schools are constructed and everything. Furthermore, Modernism represents--and I guess it is almost a cliché to say--the last period of utopia, and a belief in actually producing truths." One installation, a darkened room with scattered light sources and projection screens, recalls both a party and the fusty setting of an academic conference; in another, a portrait of Le Corbusier emerges from a stain in the ceiling. Frieze magazine has called Møller's celebration of both the past and the uninterrupted march of artistic progress "a welcome alternative to thinking about art history as a daunting public library with strict rules for readers."

The art of Kris Martin (b. Kortrijk, 1997s; lives and works in Ghent) conveys an intense experience of the finitude of life. Time is essential to this artist, whose relentless engagement with mortality and the evanescent qualities of art has defined his rising career. His works, which include installations, sculptures, photographs, drawings, writing, and sound, also inquire into the possibility of spirituality, eternity, religion, and God. Despite their melancholy and romantic aspects, they often also display flashes of skeptical humor. Martin uses found items that always bring their own history with them; or he commissions lavishly produced objects in formats ranging from the very small to the expansive. Opulently designed in collaboration with the artist, this book presents recent works as well as images of earlier works for reference purposes. With essays by Volker Adolphs, Susanne Figner, and Madeleine Schuppli, and a preface by Veit Görner.
