En diferentes países del Cono Sur, los estudios de género y los análisis de las teorías feministas vienen creciendo con fuerza desde 1990. Esto ha motivado trabajos de recuperación de archivos e investigaciones sobre artistas mujeres que, si bien se desempeñaron o aún se desempeñan profesionalmente, han sido excluidas o marginadas de los relatos de la historia del arte del continente, los que han apelado frecuentemente a la idea de la figura excepcional para el ingreso histórico de unas pocas. En las páginas aquí reunidas, lxs lectorxs encontrarán nuevas perspectivas de estudio sobre las artes de los siglos XIX y XX de Argentina, Brasil y Chile, que dan cuenta de artistas omitidas, buscando con ello problematizar el modo tradicional de escritura de las historias del arte. In this first issue, Mar{acute}ia Laura Rosa presents an article on the work of M{acute}onica Mayer and Magali Lara, Mexican artists related to the second wave of feminism, interpellated by the different feminine representations that surrounded their context. In their production, both of them turn visible the seismic times that their generation went through, in which the prescriptive images of femininity collided against the emancipatory airs of the feminist movement, in search of the change of roles of women within the family and professional spheres. Thus, from the perspective of Mar{acute}ia Laura Rosa, we acknowledge the strategies used by the artists around the portrait, the use of religious imagery, the inclusion of words and schemes as subversive systems of thought, as opposed to the disciplinary and scholastic plans.
