  • Book cover of Numerical Semigroups and Applications

This book is an extended and revised version of "Numerical Semigroups with Applications," published by Springer as part of the RSME series. Like the first edition, it presents applications of numerical semigroups in Algebraic Geometry, Number Theory and Coding Theory. It starts by discussing the basic notions related to numerical semigroups and those needed to understand semigroups associated with irreducible meromorphic series. It then derives a series of applications in curves and factorization invariants. A new chapter is included, which offers a detailed review of ideals for numerical semigroups. Based on this new chapter, descriptions of the module of Kähler differentials for an algebroid curve and for a polynomial curve are provided. Moreover, the concept of tame degree has been included, and is viewed in relation to other factorization invariants appearing in the first edition. This content highlights new applications of numerical semigroups and their ideals, following in the spirit of the first edition.

  • Book cover of Mario Botta

Over the past decade, Mario Botta has focused his creativity on a series of public buildings of great significance, in locations across the globe, from Japan to Bolivia, from Tel Aviv to the Swiss Canton of Ticino. Designing projects that are both original and closely linked to their function and surroundings, the Swiss architect has made the public building his main concern. In this beautiful volume showcasing Botta's work, eleven public buildings erected between the early 1990s and today give evidence of his evolving style. Pino Musi's colour and black and white images and pictures of superb wooden models lavishly illustrate each project. Essays by Werner Oechslin, Cesare De Seta, Benedetto Gravagnuolo, Gabriele Cappellato and Botta himself introduce the works, which include the new synagogue in Tel Aviv, a monument for La Paz, the Tinguely Museum in Basle, an art gallery in Tokyo, the San Francisco MOCA, the cathedral of Evry, the church of San Giovanni at Mogno, the two parish churches of Pordenone and Sartirana di Merate, as well as the mobile theatre for the celebration of the 900th anniversary of the founding of the Swiss Foundation.

  • Book cover of Isole di ordinaria follia

• Book cover of Breaking the Chains of Capitalism
    Marco D'Anna

     · 2015

This book offers for consideration an integrated social economic structure and technical solution capable of ending the predatory evolution of our species. This book also explains the primary factor responsible for the most preventable suffering and death throughout the evolutionary development of our species and how to correct this dysfunction at its source. It also describes how our species is undergoing a natural evolutionary transition from creatures still under the control of our predatory instincts into enlightened beings capable of creating technically advanced societies free of social economic competition for survival. This book explains how subjective realities are induced as a powerful form of psychological manipulation and used to control the working class populations for thousands of years. It also describes how the effects of artificial selection have altered the intellectual evolutionary development of our species to make our systematic exploitation under capitalism seem like an acceptable social economic system. The integrated solution in this book describes the creation of an automated community infrastructure capable of supporting a self-replicating technically advanced predator free society. The solution also offers exponential growth of a global network allowing more families to end their predatory competition for survival and start helping others wanting to make the transition.
