  • Book cover of B Is for Bad Poetry

Forget Shakespeare. Don’t count on Donne. Shelley and Keats: banished! And there’s absolutely no poet laureate from the golden or any other age. So fawning PhDs in love with little-understood verses by long-dead writers should go elsewhere. This is poetry for the rest of us—bad poetry! Pamela Russell’s unexalted (but thoroughly hysterical) poems mock, chide, accuse, tease, joke, undermine, point, and laugh at the world around us—and at anything that takes itself too seriously. Her non-canonical oeuvre includes: Tea For Two (A Tragedy); Nietzsche And The Ice-Cream Truck; Capitalism Can Fall Not Like I Fell For You; Inappropriately Touched By An Angel; Love Is Like A Toilet Bowl; and many more. Who knew bad poetry could be so good!

  • Book cover of Liverpool's Children in the 1950s

Full of the warmth and excitement of growing up in the 1950s, awakening nostalgia for times that seemed cosy and carefree with families at last enjoying peacetime, this book is packed with the experience of school days, playtime, holidays, toys, games, clubs and hobbies conjuring up the genuine atmosphere of a bygone era. As the decade progressed, rationing ended and children's pocket money was spent on goodies like Chocstix, Spangles, Wagon Wheels and Fry's Five Boys. Television brought Bill and Ben, The Adventures of Robin Hood and, for teenagers, The Six-Five Special, along with coffee bars and rock 'n' roll. This book opens a window on an exciting period of optimism, when anything seemed possible, described by the children and teenagers who experienced it. Liverpool's traditional sense of community, strengthened by the war years, provided a secure background from which children and teenagers could welcome a second Elizabethan era.

  • Book cover of Liverpool's Children in the Second World War

This is the untold story of Liverpool's children in the Second World War. Whilst everyone is familiar with the tales of evacuees who were rushed out of the cities once the bombs started falling, many of us are unaware that many stayed behind, either by choice or necessity, as the city of their childhood disintegrated and burned around them. In the words of those who experienced the Liverpool Blitz first-hand, we hear of their adventures and misadventures, the fun and games and ever-present danger, and the humor and sorrow of those wartime years. This is an important and revealing look at the war as seen through the eyes of these children. This book not only explores the memories of a childhood ravaged by war, but also the formative effect this had on individuals' lives. It reflects the collective spirit of a city that refused to be crushed, even at the darkest hours of the Luftwaffe's bombing campaign. Ideal for anyone who lived through those times, or who is fascinated by experiences and the legacy of the wartime generation, this new title pays tribute to the war's forgotten children.

I wrote this book from a sermon that I preached over 15 years ago. I wanted to dig deeper and understand how to win in spiritual warfare. What I found was I have been in spiritual warfare all my life and just did not understand it. My prayer is that you read this book and you can see what your next steps are as a spirit-filled, born-again overcomer. It is one thing to believe the promises of God, but an overcomer steps into the ministry of Jesus... doing what He did, and even "greater works". Spiritual warfare is simply the implementation of the authority that was given to us by the blood of Jesus, and the word of God. As Christians, we spend a great deal of our time functioning defensively. We pray over the wounds the devil inflicts and pull ourselves back together. We work diligently to tear down the strongholds the enemy has formed. What if we stopped some strongholds before they formed? This book will help us be offensive. Offensive warfare is guarding yourself against the tactics or schemes of the devil. Recognizing that the devil actually exists and has a mission. We need to be taught to war. Why??Because when we know better, we do better.?We then find that we can live victoriously.?We can war on the behalf of others.

  • Book cover of The Diary of a Black Pearl

Pamela Russell grew up without a father, ran away from home at seventeen, and fled a physically abusive relationship. She uncovered the virus with mindfulness, but she approached her situation as another opportunity through the power of positive thinking. The Diary of a Black Pearl is Russell's inspirational memoir about overcoming life's obstacles. Both a self-help book covering science, finance, and economics and a nonfiction account of one woman's journey of self-discovery.The Diary of a Black Pearl tells of the challenges that inspired one woman to change her thinking and highlights the incredible victories you can achieve through Russell's unique approach to self-help, business, and the coronavirus.
