(1-3) to Charles John Kean; (4) to Ellen Kean. (1), from 6 Wellington Villas, concerns Kean's testimonial at Eton and support from prominent men, including the Duke of Newcastle and W.E. Gladstone. (2), from 21 Old Bond Street, London, concerns a debt; leaf 2 consists of an I.O.U for £30. (3), from 15 Connaught Terrace, indicates that perhaps it is better that he, Taunton, and Kean "should stand to each other relatively as [they] stood before the year 1859." (4), also from 15 Connaught Terrace, expresses Taunton's desire not to get in the way of Charles Kean's recovery; if his (Taunton's) last letter would have upset Kean, Mrs. Kean was right to keep it from him.
