He could see he was leading into a changing landscape now, one more rocky and mountainous, mutating by the minute in colors and shadows with the declinivation of the late afternoon sun. He smiled at the penumbra cast by the movement of his own vehicle, its morphing dance across the desert floor. The pipe organ cactus paid headless homage, and saluted him as he passed, perhaps in pendent of his motility....,The ultimate rootless wanderer.

"From the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female" (Mark 10:6). The words are so simple yet so profound. The wisdom, the forethought and the grandeur they represent are astounding. God, in His infinite knowledge and love, created, by His Divine power, a two gender race. Why? Why not a single gender that can self-replicate? The answers are as amazing as the design itself. From the beginning of creation, God announces his purpose for male and female. "The LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him (Genesis 2:18). Man and woman are uniquely suited for each other. Two men are not so suited, two women are not so suited, but a man and a woman are. Men and women are, therefore, designed differently, yet complimentary to one another. The human thumbprint is easy to recognize: either it is forced uniformity and a monotonous sameness or else disjointed chaos. The brushstrokes of God, however, are rich with diversity and variety, and, at the same time, amazing harmony and coordination. Scriptures which teach specific gender roles in the marriage, the family and especially the church have become offensive to many Bible believing Christians. Two Scriptures stand as the prime battleground: "Let your women remain silent in the churches; for it is not permitted unto them to speak" (1 Corinthians 14:34). I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have authority over the man, but to be in silence" (1 Timothy 2:12). The apostle Paul, inspired by the Spirit of God, says "be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God" (2 Timothy 1:8). Could it be that some believers are actually ashamed of these verses? How about you? Would you prefer they never were written? Or can you cry out with the apostle, "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!"? There are two ways in which culture and the Word of God can collide. The first, and the one most generally relied upon during gender related topics, is using culture as a means to interpret/judge the Word of God. The second, and the approach used in this book, is using the Word of God to interpret/judge the culture."

Loving Intolerance shows from the Bible that love and interolerance are not only compatible but both are necessary in every caring human relationship. God Himself is a God of loving intolerance. His love for sinners and intolerance of their sin shines as a common thread through Scripture. Loving Intolerance outlines God's design for marriage, sex and the family, as well as, warnings and judgments for those who engage in sexual relationships outside of heterosexual marriage. Loving Intolerance offers hope for those chained in sin. It also offers strength and encouragement for those with a loved one to confront in loving intolerance.

"The Christian and Marriage" by Paul L. Canner was first published by Moments with the Book (Bedford, PA) in 1985 with a reprinting in 2007. Since then modern culture has experienced a dramatic shift in its views of marriage and gender. Who would have thought that Church conflicts regarding marriage and gender in decades past would be but precursors to today's redefinition of both terms? Would we have reevaluated our positions had we the foresight to see where the society was heading?"Time Changer" is the name of a 2002 Science Fiction Christian film. It portrays a brother in Christ insisting that we can teach good morals separate from the authority of Jesus Christ. Another brother tries, without success, to convince him of the necessity of invoking the name of Christ when teaching morals. It is only when the first brother is transported 100 years into the future and sees the tragic result of morals without Christ does he retract his position. The assumptions and conclusions of Mr. Canner's book need to be reexamined from a new perspective. I do not imply that truth changes, for it certainly does not. What I mean is that given the blatant cultural shift in the last 40 years, we can now better understand the profound impact of certain doctrines. They might have seemed reasonable in past decades, but in light of today's corruption of God's design, we may be able to detect irregularities to which we were once blinded.Marriage goes far beyond the physical and legal bonds. God calls it "a great mystery." It is a lifelong covenant between a husband and wife joined together by God. The Great Architect of the family guides the husband and wife though the many potential pitfalls and difficulties with loving and wise instruction. Upholding and honoring this sacred institution requires the greatest of diligence and care - as the world around us busily tries to tear it down. What may have been, in times past, the best of intentions or misunderstandings, could have the effect of undermining the very foundations of marriage within the Church. Scripture supplies no warrant for divorce and remarriage. Divorce intrudes upon this sacred institution, defies its principles, tramples upon its purpose and invalidates covenant promises. Remarriage, while one's spouse is still living, is adultery. The time may have come for a third printing of Mr. Canner's book or for Moments with the Book to find an alternative: one that clearly defines Biblical marriage; that applies the unconditional commands to husband and wife as the solution to martial difficulties; that respects marital promises; and, above all, that defends God's honorable institution of marriage - as Christ did.

Was America founded upon Christianity? What is the Biblical relationship between the believer in Christ and American politics? Does God call Christians to win the culture? Should they join the military? Should they celebrate America's heritage? Does the New Testament endorse violent self-defense? "Christ and America" answers these questions by applying hundreds of Bible references to the birth of the United States and the characteristic political philosophies that continue to permeate the Church in America today. It explores, from a Christian standpoint, "In God we Trust" on U.S. currency, "one nation under God" in the pledge of allegiance, the public posting of the Ten Commandments, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States and the expressed faith in Christ of America's founding fathers. "Christ and America" Biblically evaluates the attitude and behavior of the American Patriots toward rival believers, rival unbelievers, Government, Native Americans, African Americans, Loyalists and Quakers. The Scriptural conclusions may be surprising! Fueled by these conclusions, "Christ and America" examines American patriotism, political activism, democracy, the military and self defense from a Biblical perspective. I encourage you, dear brother or sister in Christ, to "prove all things" and "test the spirits whether they are of God". If you prayerfully resolve to follow in the Lord's steps and keep His words, this book could forever change your view of America, the Christian faith and even your daily walk with Christ.
