Waste Energy Harvesting overviews the latest progress in waste energy harvesting technologies, with specific focusing on waste thermal mechanical energies. Thermal energy harvesting technologies include thermoelectric effect, storage through phase change materials and pyroelectric effect. Waste mechanical energy harvesting technologies include piezoelectric (ferroelectric) effect with ferroelectric materials and nanogenerators. The book aims to strengthen the syllabus in energy, materials and physics and is well suitable for students and professionals in the fields.
RFID (radio frequency identification) tags are becoming ubiquitously available in object tracking, access control, and toll payment. The current application model treats tags simply as ID carriers and deals with each tag individually for the purpose of identifying the object that the tag is attached to. The uniqueness of RFID as an Infrastructure is to change the traditional individual view to a collective view that treats universally-deployed tags as a new infrastructure, a new wireless platform on which novel applications can be developed. The book begins with an introduction to the problems of tag estimation and information collection from RFID systems, and explains the challenges. It discusses how to efficiently estimate the number of tags in a large RFID system, considering both energy cost and execution time. It then gives a detailed account on how to collect information from a sensor-augmented RFID network with new designs that significantly reduce execution time.
Decacarbonyldimanganese (Mn2(CO)10), one of the most long-standing organometallic reagents, bears a weak Mn-Mn bond, which occurs a homo-cleavage feasibly under heating or light-irritation, delivering an active manganese-centered radical. This highly reactive metallic radical could activate the Si-H bond, C-halogen bond, N-halogen bond, S-halogen bond, and O=O bond, generating corresponding Mn species and Si, C, N, S, and O radicals. This wonderful reactivity enables an extensive utilization of this dimeric manganese in catalytic atom-transfer reactions and oxidation reactions. In this review, we offer a comprehensive review of this growing area in recent decades. Critical comparisons and mechanism analyses are provided, along with personal perspectives for future studies.
Laser additive remanufacturing technology is an important technology in the field of manufacturing technology innovation and development, which has largely revolutionized the design and manufacturing mode of high-end devices to a large extent, and is a key component of green remanufacturing that can effectively promote the sustainable and sound development of the manufacturing industry. A multiphase model of laser additive remanufacturing with pulsed lasers is developed to analyze the evolution of the molten pool, the trend of the surface tension for different process parameters, and their relation to the molten pool morphology. The results demonstrate that the maximum flow velocity at the surface of the molten pool is inversely proportional to the pulsed laser frequency and to the duty ratio. While the trend of the height of the cladding layer corresponds to the trend of the heat accumulation in the molten pool, the width and penetration depth of the cladding layer are governed by the size of the heat-affected zone. The cladding layer and substrate will have poor metallurgical bonding if the pulsed laser frequency is too high. When the duty ratio is too large, the likelihood of over-melting increases, affecting the substrate properties and increasing the surface roughness, which is detrimental to the surface finish of the cladding layer.
This book is a valuable resource for those involved in translation studies and discourse analysis. Drawing on a corpus-based approach and a combined framework of Appraisal and Ideological Square, this book investigates the variations in stance towards China and other countries in the English translation of contemporary Chinese political discourse. It presents research findings based on comparisons and statistical analyses of the English translation patterns of appraisal epithets, the most prototypical appraisal resources for evaluation, in Chinese political discourse at both lexico-grammatical and discourse semantic levels.
Traffic Measurement on the Internet presents several novel online measurement methods that are compact and fast. Traffic measurement provides critical real-world data for service providers and network administrations to perform capacity planning, accounting and billing, anomaly detection, and service provision. Statistical methods play important roles in many measurement functions including: system designing, model building, formula deriving, and error analyzing. One of the greatest challenges in designing an online measurement function is to minimize the per-packet processing time in order to keep up with the line speed of the modern routers. This book also introduces a challenging problem – the measurement of per-flow information in high-speed networks, as well as, the solution. The last chapter discusses origin-destination flow measurement.

This book offers a comprehensive introduction to Subdivision Surface Modeling Technology focusing not only on fundamental theories but also on practical applications. It furthers readers’ understanding of the contacts between spline surfaces and subdivision surfaces, enabling them to master the Subdivision Surface Modeling Technology for analyzing subdivision surfaces. Subdivision surface modeling is a popular technology in the field of computer aided design (CAD) and computer graphics (CG) thanks to its ability to model meshes of any topology. The book also discusses some typical Subdivision Surface Modeling Technologies, such as interpolation, fitting, fairing, intersection, as well as trimming and interactive editing. It is a valuable tool, enabling readers to grasp the main technologies of subdivision surface modeling and use them in software development, which in turn leads to a better understanding of CAD/CG software operations.
The neutrosophic set and linguistic term set are widely applied in recently years. Motivated by the advantages of them, we combine the multi-valued neutrosophic set and linguistic set and define the concept of the multi-valued neutrosophic linguistic set (MVNLS).
