The present volume is the collection of the conference papers presented on The 12th International Symposium Agricultural economics and rural development. Realities and perspectives for Romania, organized by The Research Institute for Agrarian Economy and Rural Development during 17 November 2021 of September, in Bucharest, Romania. Dans les essais et les écrits journalistiques, la place de l'image de l'argumentateur est centrale. Celui-qui-argumente n'a de cesse de consolider sa crédibilité. C'est le cas de George Orwell, essayiste et journaliste du XXe siècle, dont le pouvoir de conviction s'est prouvé immense. Grâce aux concepts de la rhétorique antique et aux théories contemporaines de l'argumentation (et notamment de la vision de Ruth Amossy) nous avons conçu une approche qui nous a permis de montrer comment se construit l'argument le plus efficace d'Orwell, sa propre image discursive (l'ethos). Nous avons ainsi identifié une typologie discursive, basée sur la manière dont le locuteur orwellien se projette dans le discours : discours généralisateur (axe One), discours pédagogique et contraignant (axe You), discours rassembleur (axe We) et discours (mi)autobiographique, centré sur l'expérience individuelle (axe I). Le locuteur est ainsi le principal levier de l'argumentation. Les ressources persuasives du discours dépendent donc, dans une large mesure, de l'autorité charismatique de celui-ci.
