The prototype of the vehicle 142 T8 B was made in 1996 and 1997. A modern water cooled motor Euro II engine Cummins B5.9 145 20 was installed into it. The higher torque of Euro II engines require new defining and changing of some assemblies of the transmission, like the clutch, gearbox and axles. With the project of installing Euro II engines in the class of vehicles T8 and T 11, all these difficulties were overcome so that the regulations regarding exhaust emission and noise level are satisfied.
