What are the life history traits of Norway pout (Trisopterus esmarkii) ? Is the spawning mortality the main reason explaining the natural mortality? Is this small gadoid species a main r- or K-strategist ? Biological data estimates used by the ICES assessment Working Group, WGNSSK (Working Group on Demersal Species of North Sea, Skagerrak and Kattegat), are skewed by the lack of knowledge about the biology of this species.Growth and maturity, interactions and integration to mortality patterns were studied in this project. Evidence of spawning mortality and inputs to improve for the assessment are highlighted throughout this work.
